My name is Eric Simmons, and I’ve worked in technical support since 1979. Most recently, I supported ShareFile as part of Progress Software Corporation.
ShareFile’s journey reflects a common story in the software industry. Originally developed and supported by Citrix Systems, it was later acquired by Cloud Software Group, which reorganized Citrix and ShareFile into separate business units. ShareFile was then sold to Progress Software Corporation. During this transition, significant corporate restructuring led to a reduction in the U.S.-based technical support workforce.
Throughout my time supporting ShareFile, I observed a consistent need among customers for greater clarity around best practices—especially in areas like folder structure, data migration, and feature optimization. This unmet need is what inspired me to launch my consulting services.
My goal is to complement, not replace, ShareFile’s excellent technical support team—which remains available at no cost to active customers. I specialize in providing strategic guidance and hands-on support in non-technical areas, helping clients make the most of their ShareFile investment.
